Our last stop in Belize :( Caye Caulker is one of the smaller Belizean cayes located south of Ambergreis. Below you can see the islands moto, "Go Slow". And let me tell you they take this seriously. There are almost no cars on the island so people get around with golfcarts, bikes, and by foot. Besides eating there is really not much to do here but swim and relax - sounds good to me!
This was an area called the 'Split'. It was created in 1961 when Hurricane Hattie blew a channel through the island of Caye Caulker. Theres a bar right on the water and you can see fishies swimming by while you enjoy a Panty Ripper - Belize's official drink (pineapple and local rum). The highlight of Caye Caulker was definitely the snorkling! We took a day trip to the barrier reef with three different areas and TONS of amazing things to see. At one of the stops we even got to TOUCH nurse sharks and manta rays!! So amazing. Other highlights were eels, barracudas, more types of tropical fish than I have seen in my life, and swimming in the middle of huge schools of fish. Kris bought an underwater camera that he will be developing hopefully soon - hint hint bro!
